20 prominent Ghanaian personalities who attended Opoku Ware SHS

Opoku Ware Senior High School, often referred to as OWASS or Akatakyie, is famous for many reasons. One, being the first Catholic school to be founded in the Ashanti Region. Two, for their Latin school motto Deus Lux Scientiae which translates as God is the Light of Knowledge. And three, for producing some of the biggest Ghanaian personalities.

Established on the 28th of February 1952, Opoku Ware was founded as a Catholic School in Asanteman where Catholic doctrines and Asante values and culture would foster the next generation of Ghanaians. The all-boys school has produced some of Ghana’s most prominent personalities.
