It’s the Rainy Season in Ghana and the weather forecasts are usually cloudy when not wet. Even though it’s the wet season, that doesn’t mean style goes out the window. Not at all. We believe in staying in style while keeping it dry during the Rainy season.
When it pours your footwear usually takes the biggest blow. Puddles, mud and slippery surfaces go and hand in hand. We encourage you to drop the heels for a bit and invest in a good pair of thick-heeled sneakers. Just to be safe shelf your favourite white canvas for a while.
Favoured outfits are usually feature cardigans, sweaters or hoodies around this time of year. Layering takes center stage, but living in Ghana, where the weather can be fickle, it is smart to layer with outfits that can easily be taken off if the sun decides to peek out. Or better yet outfits that keep you warm and yet are airy too.
To glean some rainy day fashion ideas, we chose these easy to put-together drizzle-ready outfits as seen on celebrities.
Debbie Beeko = Violet knitted skirts, violet button-up shirts and violet sneakers

Fashion designer Debbie Beeko is always a delight to see. And this monochromatic view is a great one for any rainy day. Simple and colour-coordinated, a look like this is as chic as it comes.
Yvonne Nelson = Flowing pink + Converse Sneakers and Woven Hangbag

Rainy days are usually dark and glum as it is. Why not take a cue from actress Yvonne Nelson and add some colour with a flowing outfit down to your calves and some sneakers to keep back the mud? A chic bag of your choice and a pair of shades would add more spice.
Nadia Buari = Green T + Camo Cargo Pants and Boots

Nadia is battling this season commando style we see. A pair of chunky leather boots were made for walking on those damped sidewalks. Add that with a camo pair of cargo pants and you’re pumped to tackle any day, rain or shine.
Eno Barony = Oversized shirt + Bike Shorts + Combat Boots + Backpack

Putting on a combat boots automatically turns on your cool girl mode. They are a smart choice to keep out the mud. Eno Barony loves to make a statement and she does it well with her tangerine oversized shirt. Be warm while looking hot.
Anita Akuffo = Green Oversized Two Piece + Sneakers

We all need an oversized two piece in our closets. I mean, they feel cosy and when worn well, as seen on Anita Akuffo, look really swanky. You’ll find yourself reaching for them on those “don’t-know-what-to-wear” days, which are most probably also many of the rainy ones. Toss it on with some chunky Airforce 1 sneakers and you’re good to go. P.S: maybe a black pair of Airforce 1s will do you one better.
