7 amazing photos of Rebecca Akufo-Addo in Africa print that stole our hearts

First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo is a woman who needs no or little introduction after capturing the hearts of Ghanaians with her beauty and charm just like she did with President Nana Addo some 20 years ago.

Ever since Mrs Akufo-Addo and her husband stepped into the Flagstaff house as Ghana’s first couple after Inauguration day,a lot of attention has gone into what, who and where she wears clothes.

With the help of a proactive social media team, the woman who is sometimes referred to as the “Mother of the Nation” feeds Ghanaians with her contemporary yet traditional way of rocking her wax fabrics (also known as Ntoma in the local dialect)

A daughter of Justice Jacob Hackenburg Griffiths-Randolph, the speaker of Parliament during the third republic, she may have come into close contacts with ladies in government and society including the then First lady, Mrs. Fulera Limann whose influence on her fashion cannot be overemphasized.

Subsequently working at the Merchant Bank in Ghana before relocating to the United Kingdom as a legal secretary to two multinational companies, Clifford Chance and Ashurst Morris Crisp, Lady Rebecca would have learnt a thing or two about how to dress in the corporate world and copped a few fashion rules in the process.

After almost, 17 years, she has finally unseated another style icon and Ghanaian first lady, Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings as the most fashionable first lady in the country’s history.

Chief among her public looks include Maxi dresses as well as Kaba and Slits which comes alongside a variety of mind-blowing designs

Whiles many think that fashion is just about wearing clothes, the woman who has been described by the President as passionate, hardworking and kind is growing the Ghanaian economy with every clothe or accessory she buys from a local designer.

It’s been only six months since she became first lady but this move has also gone a long way to propel the brands she wears unto the national and global scene especially as the current administration tries to encourage Ghanaians to patronize made in Ghana goods through the #WearGhana initiative and celebrate our culture.

Below are 10 photos of her in African prints that have captured many Ghanaian hearts.
