Skybar inside Villagio

The looming buildings of Villagio can seem daunting, for the lack of a better word, to anyone who doesn’t reside there. One of the best-kept secrets of Villagio is Skybar is the bird-eye view of Accra, it gives you. It is a bar on top of one of the buildings, with an amazing drink area, a restaurant and a live band / DJ set up to keep the music going. If you’re considering this space as a weekend activity, then get in touch with the management and book your entrance, because that is the only way to get in.

Republic Bar

Osu is one town that doesn’t seem to sleep, and one of their most popular attractions is the Republic bar, a friendly and cozy place to relax or link up with other people. It has a bar and a grill that serve all sorts of drinks and cocktails and finger foods. They also host weekly live music selections over the weekends. Whether it’s hip life or high life, they have you covered.

The National Museum

Chances are you’ve read about Ghana and the culture in primary school books. Or maybe you’ve even been to the National museum some time past. But the National Museum always has something new to teach you. Over there, there’s an extensive collection on the history of Ghana, continuously being updated to reflect the way of life of the people. You can experience the art and history of Ghana is an organized and peaceful environment.

Jamestown

This is one of the most popular places in Accra, usually represented by the lighthouse. It is also the location of the popular arts festival Chale Wote, and has a lot of interesting sites that you can visit. You can visit the Usher Fort, the Christianborg castle which was once the seat of the Ghanaian government, climb the lighthouse for the views and visit the James Town Café, among other things. Spend a day in Jamestown and your perception of Accra is guaranteed to change.

The W.E.B. DuBois Memorial Centre for Pan African Culture

Accra houses a memorial for the great civil rights leader and Pan-Africanist William Edward Burghardt DuBois. It is built on what used to be his former home. His personal library and a small museum there gives you a good overview of the life of the man who made a huge impact on African emancipation from colonial powers. There is a restaurant, gallery, amphitheatre, the burial grounds of the late Pan-Africanist and his wife and a research for Pan-African history and culture.

The Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum

This museum, named after Ghana’s first president and independence pioneer Kwame Nkrumah, is the ideal place to get an overview of the life of the great man whose burial site is also on the grounds. All of this in an attractive five-acre (two-hectare) park that was once a British polo ground. Guided tours are also available. You also get to experience parts of the life of the first president of Ghana and his government.

Bloombar

If you’re looking to hang out with friends over drinks and some good licking finger foods on weekend nights then is the place to be. Located in Osu, it is famous for their well-lit ambiance and open space allowing revelers to party hard on the floor. Likewise, it has a reputation for preventing random guests from accessing their facility if you don’t fit certain criteria. This,however, hasn’t deterred young people from trooping in every weekend.

Rufus Green Parks

Set out around the Adenta municipality, the Rufus Green Parks is a recreational park stretching over 20 acres. It is suitable for picnics, BBQ or weddings or just an encounter with nature especially if you are tired of all the unabated noise the city of Accra doles out.

Clean beaches, white sands, less humans and great price for food and drinks. The beach clubs on the Kokrobite beach is a lifestyle haven and definitely a place to visit to destress.
