Happy birthday to one of Ghana’s most prolific media personages Dr. Kwame Osei Despite who celebrated his 60th birthday. Dr. Kwame Osei Despite remains not only a foundational influence but also a pacesetter in Ghana’s media space.

Born on the 2nd of February 1962 in Agona Wiamoase, Dr. Kwame Osei Despite cultivated his place in media by starting out with music cassettes and other merchandise in Dunkwa-Offiso. He took charge of the local Ghanaian media space by setting up Peace FM in 1999. Providing a news outlet in Akan was a need that the Ghanaian masses craved and this visionary provided.

The growth of Peace FM transitioned into a larger umbrella of not just media companies but also fast-moving-consumer-goods and other services. Despite Group of Companies now consists of radio stations (Peace FM, Hello FM and Okay FM), food processing (Neat Foods and U2), bottled water (Special Ice) and television (UTV).

A man with a great vision is one to be observed. A man who implements that great vision is to be touted.
