The 71st edition of Miss Universe has officially come to end with Miss USA, R’Bonney Gabriel being crowned as winner of the 2022 edition.

The 2022 edition which was held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 14, 2023 saw a number of African beauty queens and black sisters from the diaspora represent elegantly in their selected gowns made home and abroad.

From Ghana’s Engracia Mofuman to the beautiful Nigerian goddess,  Hannah Iribhogbe to South African queen, Ndavi Nokeri, there was no shortage of eye-catching elegant gowns on the final stage.

Other queens who represented wearing beaded gowns with intricate detailing and feminine cuts include Miss Angola, Swelia Da Silva Antonio, Alexandrine Belle-etoile from Mauritius, Miss Universe Seychelles – Gabriella Gonthier, Alba Isabel Obama Moliko representing Equatorial Guinea and  Miss Namibia – Cassia Sharpley
