Miss Malaika 2022: Zakiya Ahmed is the Emerald Queen

19-year-old Zakiya Ahmed, a University of Ghana Psychology student has been crowned the 20th Miss Malaika Queen.

Zakiya warded off stiff competition from nine other delegates at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center, on Saturday, November 12, 2022, to clinch the coveted title.

Her win also makes her the first Hijabi Muslim to win the prestigious crown since the inception of the show in 2002.

Zakiya walks away with a car, the crown, cash, a closet filled with GTP fabrics and a 5-night trip to Johannesburg, South Africa along with other goodies from title sponsors.

Judges; Ama Sarpong, 2010 winner, fashion designer and OAP, Kofi Okyere Darko, Tourism Writer, Paa John Bentsifi Dadson, Berla Mundi, 2010, 2nd runner up and Naa Oyoe Quartey, 2013 winner also crowned Eunice Yayra Offei and Rebecca Abraham as 1st and 2nd runners up respectively.

Hosted by Compere, Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku and Joyce Mamle Abena Ayeh, the 13-week reality show culminated in a Homecoming event which saw past delegates attending the occasion.

A cake-cutting ceremony by the C.E.O of Charterhouse, Theresa Ayoade and the former queens also shaped the night into a celebratory one with exciting stage performances from KiDi, Adina, Kelvyn Bwoy and Friday Night’ crooner Lasmid.
