We love the concept of love so much without fail. But one thing we love more than love is a cross-cultural wedding that evokes unity and class.
Today, we throw light on the West African marriage ceremony of Guinean model, Sira Kante and the love of her life, Balogun in a rich display of Nigerian and Guinean wedding culture.
The UK-Based model and her lover tied the proverbial knot at a ceremony in Manhattan, New York in the company of family and friends.
Sira Kante, 27 who has appeared in several music videos, scored a Vogue Magazine feature in 2019 and curates some eye-popping content on her social feed sought the services of Nigerian designer, Matopeda Atelier to design her gown. The classic silhouette gown was a high-neck trumpet number that had 3D lace details and stones.
A low sleek bun was her style of choice along with clean makeup and nude lipstick. For accessories, she wore flower stud earrings.
According to Tope Fnr, creative designer of Matopeda on Instagram, the creative gig was recommended by Sira’s style and acknowledged the bride’s positive and kind disposition.
“S I R A, My beautiful bride. Such a positive and kind woman. I love how you understood how much love went into making your dress. Her sister made the referral and it was such a perfect match. Thank you for trusting me on your special day,” she captioned along with photos from the ceremony.
For Mr Balogun, he brought the swag on in a Mandarin-style kaftan that perfectly complemented the bride’s look.
The lovely ceremony which also featured bits of Islamic rites was a melting pot of genuine emotions, colour and joyous moments. It was definitely a celebration of a well-nurtured love and culture
