“Our Woman” is Christie Brown’s new collection that is affirming the brand’s contemporary style

Luxurious, Stylish, Traditional yet Contemporary and bold is how Ghanaian based womenswear company, Christie Brown has identified itself since its inception in 2008.

Headed by Aisha Ayensu (née Obuobi) & partner, Vanessa Bannerman, CB takes great pride in how it develops traditional fabrics into contemporary garments without downplaying their African roots.

The nomenclature of Christie Brown even bears a paradox just like it’s brand ethos; modernity meeting culture. Loaned from Aisha’s beloved grandmother who was also a dressmaker and famed for her rich and vibrant garments, it continues to blaze the trail in bespoke and accessory tailoring in Africa.

With a diverse range of clientele including the backup singers of Award winning pop-singer Beyoncé Knowles Carter, Stylist; TY Hunter, Beauty Queen, Menaye Donkor, OAP,Nikki Sammonas, Berla Mundi, Makeup Artist, Sandra Don-Arthur and some of Ghana’s most iconic women, CB is and has always been show-stopping.

Adapting with European seasons and standards, CB has released yet another bold collection that is definitely going to be sight for sore eyes. The Spring Summer 2019 collection which heralds the rains and heat in equal measure is described as “quintessentially Christie Brown” according to its press release.

“From our unique use of wax prints which we’ve perfected over the years to yet another innovative use of traditional embroidery techniques, we’ve captured and affirmed the very DNA of our brand” it said.

According to the Luxury brand, “each garment is a labor of love from the entire Christie Brown family to every Woman”

The new collection is available at the Christie Brown flagship store located in Osu, RE.

Awards / Fashion Week

In 2009, the brand won the Emerging Designer of the Year Award in 2009 at the Arise Africa Fashion Week in Johannesburg; to being the only Ghanaian label showcased at the Arise L’Afrique-A-Porter in Paris Fashion Week in March 2010. It has also received several features and media mentions in global fashion magazine such as Teen Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Vogue Italia, Canoe 53 and Glamour Magazine.
