Superstars and the people that love them converged in Ghana’s capital of Accra on Saturday (September 24) at the 2022 edition of the Global Citizen Concert. The event which occurred at the Black Star Square has been praised as the best concert the country has seen in a while.

The concert was charged with art, dance performances and highlights from the likes of Usher, Tems, Stormzy, Gyakie, SZA and Ghanaian music heavyweights Sarkodie and Stonebwoy. But while we consider the awe of the event, we couldn’t help but put a spotlight on the ones behind the shows success.
Meet Ruddy Kwakye, the Ghanaian media personage and Global Citizen team lead who facilitated the arrival of the British-pound-dominated-7-figure multipurpose stage used for the concert.
Who is Ruddy Kwakye?
A man of many hats, Ruddy Kwakye is a Brand Specialist, Entrepreneur, Media Personality and Producer.
His expertise covers over a decade’s experience as a Brand Representative for Ghana’s Multimedia Group, Viacom’s MTV Base and now the CEO of The Rave Group and Executive Produce for AfroNationGhana.

As CEO of The Rave Group, Ruddy spearheads a team positioned to enhance experiential, digital and cross-platform marketing services in the areas of entertainment and event production.
The Road to Global Citizen’s Success
Global Citizen is an action platform dedicated to achieving the end of extreme poverty. Using fundraising and entertainment to raise awareness and spur sustainable development, Global Citizen’s latest concert festival which occurred in two locations, Accra and New York, raised over USD$2 Billion.

Ruddy Kwakye shared the efforts he and his team put toward the arrival of the multi-purpose worldstage used at the just ended concert.
As per his LinkedIn post, the debut of this multipurpose stage implies that Ghana is primed to have worldwide entertainment hotshots.

Fundamentally, global icons such as Drake, Beyonce and Kanye West can now consider including Ghana as a location feature for their worldwide tours.
This is a great feat for Ghana’s entertainment and tourist industry as a whole.
If this brilliant spectacle is what we got from Ruddy and his team as consulting organisers for Global Citizen, it is safe to say AfroNation Ghana this year is poised to be a stellar experience.

There’s more work to be done to propel Ghana’s entertainment industry but a journey begins with one step and the Global Citizen experience is one great leap in that direction.
