Gabon snatched a 1-1 draw with Ghana in the 11th hour of their African Cup of Nations Group C match.
The draw puts Gabon in the lead towards being part of the last 16. Ghana was under pressure at the start of the game but the Black Stars grabbed the lead with Ayew setting up a score with a glorious strike. However, Allevinah won an equalisation with a score at the end of Gabon’s Panthers.
The game was not without drama. There was a bout following Ayew protesting to referee Lahlou Benbraham regarding Gabon’s goal.
Benjamin Tetteh was shown a red card after the final whistle for his part in the disagreement. His offense earns him a 3 match ban.
It is safe to say many Ghanaians were not pleased with the conduct and the outcome of the game.
Here are some Twitter reactions to Ghana’s AFCON equaliser with Gabon.
However as upsetting as the game was, there was some wholesomeness that we could not disregard.
It is always pleasing to see the fruits of hardwork and determination taking root in games like these.
Ghana is set to play against Comoros on Tuesday the 18th of January at 7pm.
