If you’re Ghanaian, chances are you’ve heard of the National Science and Maths Quiz, popularly known as the NSMQ.
Formerly known as the Brilliant Science and Maths Quiz, the program features various senior high schools competing for the ultimate title as Science and Mathematics quiz champions.

Organizers of the show, Prime Time Ghana have over the years made it a tradition to only use female moderators in the show.
Professors Marian Ewurama Addy and Dr Eureka Emefa Adomako have had the privilege to be quiz mistresses.
Currently, Dr Elsie Effah Kaufmann is the quiz mistress of the show. She has operated in that role for the past 10 years and heads a team of consultants including Prof. W. A. Asomaning, Dr Ebenezer Owusu, Dr Amos Kuditcher and Dr Douglas Adu-Gyamfi, all of the University of Ghana, Legon.
Due to the hectic nature of the quiz and the various levels involved, new quiz mistress have been introduced to the championship who are all in STEM.
The official NSMQ page describes them as: “A real-life inspiration and on-screen delight, we appreciate all our Quiz Mistresses for bringing panache to the theories and formulae we study.”

Dr Anita Oppong-Quaicoe
Dr Anita Oppong-Quaicoe is a lecturer at the Chemistry department of the University of Ghana, Legon.
She moderated the regional qualifiers in the Eastern Region.
Dr Thelma Ohene-Agyei
Dr Thelma Ohenewaa-Agyei is a lecturer at the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice at the University of Ghana, Legon.
Mrs Gladys Odey Schwinger
Mrs Gladys Odey Schwinger is a PhD candidate in Environmental Science at the Institute of Environmental and Sanitation Studies in the University of Ghana Legon.
She has been a regional moderator with the NSMQ for the past four years.
Dr Lucy Agyepong
Dr Lucy Agyepong is the Dean of Engineering Informatics at Academic City.
She is one of the mentors at this years NSMQ.
Mrs Racheal Annoh
Mrs Racheal Annoh is a tutor at Okuapeman Snior High school in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
This year, she is also one of the amazing women in science that have taken over the National Science and Maths Quiz.
