Ghana’s Osu Castle will come alive with music, fashion and art on the 31st of August, 2019 when the world converges for “The Year of Return” edition of annual Pan-African music and fashion festival, Rhythms On Da Runway.
In its 7th year, the show which first thrilled lovers of entertainment and style in Ghana, begun at the poolside of the Golden Tulip in Accra.
Later shifting venues to GHOne TV Studios and the Banquet Hall of the State House in subsequent years.
Announcing the venue to guests, patrons and sponsors at a soiree launch last Thursday at the African Regent Hotel in Accra, International events host, fashion designer and broadcaster, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) said this year’s edition was moving to the Osu Castle in honour of Ghana’s Year of Return.
“The Castle Gardens is a significant location that is a great match to commemorate 2019 as “The Year of Return” the award-winning compere pointed out.
Ghana’s Christianbourg Castle was the seat of government until the erstwhile Kuffuor administration initiated the building of the Golden Jubilee house to commemorate Ghana’s 50th Independence Anniversary in 2007.
It has housed both colonial leaders and Ghanaian presidents for over 300 years and was at a period used to transport slaves to the Carribean.
This year will see Stonebwoy, Rex Omar, Sonnie Badu, Joe Mettle, Twum, Kuami Eugene, Steve Bedi, Stephanie Benson, Obrafuor and other artiste billed perform on the highly anticipated nights.
Whiles fashion labels including Ophelia Crossland, Velma’s Accessories, Yartel, from South Africa, Nigeria’s Mudi Africa, Nineteen57 By KOD, Nallem Clothing, SteppAppGh will also showcase their exquiste African-inspired designs on the runway
