St Roses Senior High popularly known as Rosec or Roses is an all-female second-cycle institution which was established in 1965 by the Dominican Sisters from Speyer, Germany.

It is located in Akwatia, Eastern Region of Ghana. The school first begun as teacher training college and later transformed into a secondary school.

The school’s motto is Verita which means Truth and Responsibility in Latin. Students of St. Roses are called Rosecans and old students are known as Rosas. Due to their location in the mining town of Akwatia, year groups are named after precious stones and flowers.

The school’s colours are blue and white which is worn by all year group.

They are also noted for their prowess in the Sciences and their performances in the National Mathematics and Science Quiz and national debate championships.

Mrs. Marian Jackson is the head of the school who is assisted by the popular Sr.Chris Shiela.

St. Roses and St. Peters have a healthy and vigorous alliance known as “Spersoa” with their slogan as “in a class of our own”.Old Boys of Pope John S.H.S is also known to have a cordial relationship with the Old girls of St. Roses ending in marriages among other unions.

Josephine Annan-Ankomah

Josephine Annan-Ankomah is the Eco-bank Group Executive in charge of commercial banking.

Mrs Josephine Anan-Ankomah is a well-rounded banker with over 25 years’ experience within Ecobank who joined Ecobank Ghana in 1992 as a Treasury Officer.

She has held various senior positions within the bank, such as Regional Treasurer (Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and The Gambia), Chief Operating Officer (Ecobank West African Monetary Zone/East & Southern Africa), Head of Corporate Strategy and Business Development (Ecobank Ghana) and Deputy Head investment Banking Group (Ecobank Ghana). She completed St.Roses Senior High School in 1984.

Sandra Alexandrina Don-Arthur

Professional Makeup Artist, Beauty Guru and TV Host. Sandra Don-Arthur is the C.E.O of Beauty Resource Company and Makeup Studio, Alexiglam Company Limited.

She is the first Ghanaian to do makeup at the New York Fashion Week and has worked as a makeup artist for Lagos Fashion Design Week and the Glitz Fashion Week. Don-Arthur has worked on a number of celebrities in both the Ghanaian and Nigerian entertainment industry such as Omotola Jalade EkehindeEfyaJoselyn DumasJuliet IbrahimNadia BuariJackie AppiahJim IykeYvonne Okoro and DJ Cuppy.

She was the host of “Makeup Diaries” which aired in 46 countries and currently the host of “Glam It Up”. Alexandrina is a member of St. Roses Class of 1997.

Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong

Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, is a Ghanaian female legal practitioner and a former Attorney General of Ghana and Minister for Justice of Ghana. She was appointed by President Mahama in 2013.

She is the second woman to hold this office in Ghana after Mrs Betty Mould-Iddrisu.

She was appointed to serve on the Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce from 1 July 2018 for a three-year term. She graduated from St. Roses in 1985.

Sandra Opoku

Sandra Opoku is a Ghanaian lawyer who became the first female director of the Tema Port.

She was formerly the general manager for the legal division of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority.

She holds a degree in International Maritime Law.

 At St. Roses school, she was the protocol officer and a dining hall perfect and completed in 1992.

Patricia Obo-Nai

Patricia Obo-Nai is an engineer and the first Ghanaian to assume the position of Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Ghana.

She is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, and Vodafone’s executive committee.

She holds an Executive MBA and Executive Education degree from the University of Ghana and Kellogg School of Management in the USA. She is a member of St.Roses class of 1991 and also attended the Presbyterian Boy’s Secondary School for A-level.

Obo-Nai is the 2020 recipient of the Ghana Women of Excellence Awards for her leadership.

Beryl Agyekum Ayaba

Beryl Agyekum is a civil engineer and the C.E.O of EchoHouse, a creative agency and marketing firm.

She was named amongst the 100 Most Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs in Ghana.

Talata Provencal

Roberta Talata Provencal is the C.E.O of Stationery and Home By Talata.
