5 black girls;Mayowa Nicholas, Shanelle Nyasiase, Amar Akway and Aliet Sarah on the cover of Vogue Japan is a big deal, we can’t even believe it happened.
The models who are all of African descent and heritage are a breath of fresh air in the fashion industry which is predominantly white and racist.
For the September Issue which is also the biggest issue and best-selling for most publications, the 5 ladies are joined by model Kai Geber wearing couture from Yves Saint Laurent and Bottega Venta.
The special covers were photographed by fashion photographers, Luigi & Iango before most of the world went into lockdown.
