Privacy policy
Last updated 10 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Wyre (“we”) collects when you use Wyre, and what we do with it. We follow Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
Creators and their teams
When you create an account or join a site we collect:
- Your phone number and name, to sign you in with a text code and show your name on stories you write.
- An email address, only if you add one.
- What you publish: stories, photos, your site’s name, logo and links.
- Payment records: plan, amount, date and Paystack’s reference. Card and Mobile Money details are handled by Paystack; we never see or store them.
- Security records: sign-in attempts, with your IP address stored only as a scrambled (hashed) value, to stop abuse.
Readers of Wyre sites
- We don’t ask readers to sign up, and we don’t build profiles of readers.
- Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver pages and protect sites from attacks.
- Sites on paid plans may show Google AdSense ads, which can use cookies. Google’s use of data is covered by Google’s own policies. The site owner decides whether to show ads.
- If you send a report about a site, we keep what you write and any contact details you choose to give, to handle the report.
Who else handles data
We use trusted providers to run Wyre, and share only what each one needs:
- Cloudflare: hosting, storage of photos, and protection from attacks.
- Neon: our database.
- Arkesel: sending sign-in codes and reminders by SMS.
- Paystack: payments.
Some of these providers store data outside Ghana. We only use providers that protect it. We don’t sell personal data. We share it with authorities only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Account data: while your account is open, then deleted or anonymised, unless the law requires us to keep it.
- Payment records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Security records: usually up to a year.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. Email [email protected]. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to Ghana’s Data Protection Commission.
Children
Wyre is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy and will say so on this page. If a change matters, we will tell creators before it applies. See also our terms of use.
