Terms of use

Wyre lets you build and run a news website from your phone. These terms are an agreement between you and Wyre (“we”). By creating an account, a site, or joining a site’s team, you agree to them.

1. Your account

• You sign in with your phone number and a code we text you. Keep your phone safe: whoever has it can sign in as you.
• You must be at least 18, or have a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
• Give your real name and keep your details up to date.

2. Your site and your content

• You own what you publish. You give us permission to store, show and share it (for example in previews on WhatsApp and search engines) so your site works.
• You are responsible for everything published on your site, including by people you invite. Site owners decide who is on their team.
• Only publish what you have the right to publish: your own words, photos and videos, or ones you have permission to use.

3. What you may not publish

Do not use Wyre to publish or share content that:

• breaks the laws of Ghana, or of the country your readers are in;
• is defamatory, or knowingly false and meant to deceive or cause panic;
• threatens, harasses or encourages violence or hatred against people or groups;
• is sexual content involving children, or sexual content shared without consent;
• copies other people’s work without permission;
• scams people, spreads malware, or impersonates another person or news organisation;
• exposes someone’s private information without a public-interest reason.

4. Reports and takedowns

Anyone can report a site with the report form linked at the bottom of every site. We review reports and may remove content, make a site read-only or suspend it, usually after contacting the owner. We may act straight away when the law requires it or people are at risk.

5. Plans and payments

• The Free plan costs nothing. Paid plans (Basic, Pro, Newsroom) are billed monthly, every three months or yearly, in Ghana cedis, through Paystack.
• Card payments renew automatically until you cancel. Mobile Money payments cover one period; we text you before it ends so you can pay again.
• If a payment is overdue, your site gets a grace period. After that it becomes read-only: readers can still see it, but you can’t publish until you pay.
• You can cancel at any time and keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for. We don’t refund unused time, except where the law requires it.
• We may change prices. We will tell you before a new price applies to you.

6. Leaving

You can stop using Wyre at any time. We may close accounts or sites that break these terms, or Free sites that have not been used for a long time, after warning the owner where we can.

7. Our service

• We work hard to keep Wyre running, but we can’t promise it will never be interrupted or free of errors.
• As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, lost income, or content published by site owners and their teams.

8. Changes and law

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you before it applies. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana.
