Kotoka International Airport is Africa's best and most improved airport according to ACI World

The Kotoka International Airport in Ghana’s capital of Accra has been adjudged as the Best Airport in Africa by the Airport Council International (ACI).

In a list that was released on Monday, March 9, 2020, in Montreal, Canada, the ACI World adjudged KIA as winners of two categories in its prestigious Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards

Kotoka International Airport beat competition from other African countries to win ‘Best Airport By Size and Region’ with a passenger population of between two and five million and Africa’s ‘Most Improved’ Airport.

The win makes the Airport which serves as a regional and international hub a first-time winner joining the league of award-winning airports such as Indianapolis International Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, Toronto Pearson   

“The awards this year have been won by a diverse group of winning airports from around the world which illustrates the industry-wide commitment to delivering exceptional customer experience.” ACI World Director-General, Angela Gittens said in a statement “We are pleased to note that the five winning airports in the category of ‘Best airport by size and region (under two million passengers per year in Europe)’, are all first-time winners of an ASQ award.”

Ghanaian pilot lands the Emirates Airbus into the Kotoka International Airports

An award ceremony will be held in September of this year at the third ACI Customer Experience Global Summit in Krakow, Poland in September to present the awards to the various airports.
