Miss Universe Japan has crowned Japanese-Ghanaian model, Aisha Harumi Tochigi as 2020 winner in a historic event on Thursday, October 29, 2020.
Born into an exogamous family, a Ghanaian father and Japanese mother, the Tokyo-based beauty queen beat competition from twenty-nine other delegates to snatch the crown.
Her win makes her the second interracial person to win the coveted title in a country that considered very conservative and averse to interracial marriages.

It was a night for mixed raced kids as Japanese-Nigerian, Raimau Kaminashi was adjudged the first runner-up and Japanese-Filipino, Yuki Sonoda took the second runner up position on the night.
Prior to winning the 2020 edition, Tochigi participated in 2019 event where she ended up in the top 5 but lost out to Ako Kamo.
According to official records, Aisha was born in 1996 and lived in Accra, Ghana for a few years before relocating to Japan. She attended the Golden Sunbeam International School in Adentan.
