Saying that 2020 has not been exactly what we envisioned is like saying new shoes are going to pinch slightly; an understatement.

Celebrations may look a little different this year but making the most of the time we have this holiday season is key, and a big part of that is feeling and looking good.

We’ve come up with a quickie how-to for three of our favourite looks to rock this festive season; easy DIY styles that will keep you looking fabulous all year round.

LET’S GET STARTED

All these luscious hairdos have a common start point – clean, moisturized hair.

Cleanse your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo to get rid of product build-up. Cantu’s Sulfate-Free Cleansing Cream Shampoo has a rich lather that gently cleanses and moisturizes your curls right from the get-go.

Use a good conditioner to add vital moisture. Cantu’s Leave-In Conditioning Cream moisturizes, hydrates, and reduces frizz to keep your styles looking fresher for longer.

Detangle! Getting out all the knots and tangles before styling helps prevent breakage as you coil and twist your curls. Use Cantu’s Coil Calm Detangler, it’s made with pure shea butter which also softens your hair for even easier styling.

Now your hair is clean, soft, and tangle-free. Time to style!

BAE BANTU KNOTS

Bantu Knots are cute and flirty and are so easy to do! Did you know they are not knots?! They are actually lovely coiled buns secured at the base, perfect for hair of varying lengths and textures.

Section your hair into the size knots you would like and start to twist. Define those twists by applying a generous amount of curling cream from the root to the tip of each section. Our pro styling tip is to cocktail Cantu’s Coconut Curling Cream with the Moisturizing Twist & Lock Gel for lightweight, soft coils.

After twisting the full length, twist into a knot clockwise, wrapping it around so the end is against the base of your knot. To secure it either use another hair tie or a bobby pin. Et voilà!

For a sleek finish use Cantu’s Extra Hold Edge Stay Gel to smooth down those baby hairs and frizzy flyaways.

TERRIFIC TWIST OUTS

Don’t get it twisted, the perfect twist-out will always be one of the most popular hairdos for naturalistas. It works for every length of hair and lasts ages if properly cared for.

Depending on your hair length and how voluminous you want your curls to be, section your hair into quarters, then each quarter into small sections the size of the twists you want.

Making sure your hair is wet, apply Cantu’s Define & Shine Custard apply to each small section from root to tip with your fingers as you start to twist. Its ultra-moisturizing ingredients makes even the driest coils defined and provides hold for long-lasting styles.

Allow your hair to fully dry before carefully untwisting the knots. Use your fingers to separate each twist to maintain the curls.

Pro stylist tip: To keep your curls as long as possible apply Cantu’s Comeback Curl Next Day Curl Revitalizer to keep your curls poppin’!

STRIKING SPACE BUNS

WE. LOVE. THIS. LOOK! Want to make a statement when you walk into the party? Well this is it, and it takes less time than you think!

Section your hair into four parts, three equal parts at the back, and a fourth section at the front to create your twisted bangs. Be sure to section a line in the middle on both sides for cornrows.

Starting at the back, cocktail Cantu’s Coconut Curling Cream with the Styling Stay Glue and apply to damp hair. The extreme hold formula is perfect for creating long-lasting styles that stay in place. Smooth the hair into a ponytail and wrap the hair around the base to create a bun.

For the twists, be sure to apply Cantu’s Define & Shine Custard throughout, and on the ends to seal. Wrap your hair and allow to dry fully before stepping out and showing your glorious creation to the world.

And there you have it, three poppin’ styles to suit whatever looks you have planned for this festive season. However your Christmas is looking this year, taking some time to look and feel your best is the greatest present you can give yourself.
