Power of love: The newlyweds who joined a #BlackLivesMatter protest on their wedding day

Newlyweds Dr. Kerry-Anne Perkins and Michael Gordon, made history on Saturday when they joined a #BlackLivesMatter protest in Philadelphia, U.S.A.

According to media reports, the two joined thousands of protesters in a solidarity march to City Hall a few minutes after tying the knot.

Dressed in a spectacular off-shoulder wedding gown and tuxedo, the black couple was met with applause and cheers when they joined the crowd outside the Logan Hotel reports the Today Show.

A video of the couple kissing as people chanted the “Black Lives Matter” slogan has gone viral on social media.

The crowd parted ways for the couple, who kissed and posed for wedding photos to capture their special day.

They then joined the march along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway as the crowd walked toward City Hall.

Adding his voice to the beautiful moment, Editor of British Vogue, Edward Enninful shared a white and black photo of the two and wrote:

“After #DrKerryAnne Perkins and #MichaelGordon‘s wedding was cancelled, they had a small ceremony in Philadelphia and ended up joining #blacklivesmatter protesters and marching in solidarity.”

Even in a time like this, love continues to reign supreme, a testament to the power love posses throughout the ages.
