At this year’s semi-finals audition of Ghana’s Number 1 beauty pageant, Miss Malaika, African print fashion was the order of the Saturday afternoon.
With sponsorship from wax textile brand, GTP every official spotted was clad in euphoric African print outfits. From Host and Malaika alumni, Berla Mundi to past queens; Sharon Coffie, Leah Brown, Naa Oyoe Quartey, Regina Van-Helvert and reigning queen Marian Owusu-Poku, no one was left behind.
When we thought we has seen it all, came judges Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku, a former producer of the show and TV host and dashing actor, James Gardiner all wearing African print styles.
Miss Malaika is the home of several beauty queens including Hamamat Montia, Ama Nettey, Giselle, Thelma Tawiah, Tamara Dzormeku, Gerry Partington and many others.
The journey to crown a Ghanaian girl who is beautiful inside and out just begun and so far the splash of print all over is giving us the feels. We can wait to see what they wear next but in the meantime…
