COVID19: Fashion brand, Pistis Ghana donates 1000 face masks to Kayayie at Madina Market

Ghanaian fashion house, Pistis Ghana is helping young Ghanaian head porters popularly known as “Kayayei” stay safe during the COVID-19 period.

Considered as some of the most vulnerable and at risk of contracting the virus, which has no cure and affected millions of people, these head porters who are mainly from the Savannah and North regions of Ghana are at the mercy of law authorities and unsuspecting carriers.

The fashion house which is led by husband and wife duo, Kabutey and Sumaya Dzietro gave out 1000 face masks to these ladies as part of their Social Responsibility.

In a public statement, the brand announced the outreach with a video on social media.

“For every @PistisGH face mask you bought, you donated one to a kayayo,” a paragraph of the statement read.

Adding that: “Keeping safe during this pandemic comes at a cost , and for some kayayie at the Madina market , having a face masks is a luxury they cannot afford.”
