Candid Kofi Set to Host Ghana Entertainment Awards USA Red Carpet

New York based Ghanaian OAP/Entertainment host, Candid Kofi is bringing his signature style to the Ghana Entertainment Awards red carpet this year.

Known for his soothing voice on Atlantis Radio 87.9, his role as an entertainment analyst, and appearances as a red carpet host, Kofi now leads lifestyle and career conversations through his digital platform Very Candid Thoughts while also curating experiences for Ikigai Moments.

We caught up with him ahead of the show to talk about what excites him most, the unpredictability of red carpets, and why celebrating Ghana’s creative talent on an international stage matters.

Kofi, you’ve hosted Glitz Africa events and now the Ghana Entertainment Awards red carpet. What excites you most about nights like this?

Now that question has me smiling already because it’s the camera, lights, glamour, and elegance of such events that excite me! But most importantly, it’s the stories I get to tell. For the Ghana Entertainment Awards USA, it’s a big night to celebrate Ghanaian creativity in the diaspora. All year, our entertainers work so hard, and for that one night when we celebrate their talent, sacrifice, and investment, I feel truly humbled to not only be a part of it but to help tell their stories in an elevated and inspiring atmosphere.

Red carpets can get unpredictable. How do you keep the energy fun and engaging?

The spontaneity is everything! It’s a very fast-paced setting, so I walk in prepared but also mentally and emotionally ready to flip the script. I take cues from the guests because they’re the real rock stars. My job is to curate the vibe for the main event. I see it as the pregame—so I can’t go low on energy! That thought alone keeps me charged.

You are also known for Candid Thoughts. How does that side of your work influence how you connect with stars on the carpet?

Candid Thoughts is my digital platform where I connect with everyday New Yorkers through raw, authentic conversations. That experience forces me to step out of my comfort zone, walking up to strangers and capturing profound stories on camera. On the red carpet, the approach is the same. Yes, you may be speaking with A-list celebrities, but at the core of every star is a human being with a lived experience. So the red carpet becomes the perfect place to get even more candid.

This event celebrates Ghanaian talent. What do you think a night like this means for the industry and culture?

It means we’re showcasing Ghana’s creative economy to the world. We’re saying Ghana is not only rich in natural resources but also in cultural and creative capital. That night, Ghana’s art takes center stage, and the world is watching. It’s a powerful opportunity to pitch the Ghana brand and invite global collaborations and investment into our creative economy.

The 2025 eidition of the Ghana Entertainment Awards takes place on Saturday, September, 28th, 2025 at the Avenue Events Center, Hackensack-NJ USA. Empress Gifty Osei, Wesley Kesse, Medikal, Kojo Manuel and several other entertainers have been nominated of this year’s show.
