Here are 5 eccentric places you can spend the weekend at for less than 500 Ghana cedis. Sounds impossible right? Let us prove you wrong. 

Ezile Bay

Ezile Bay is a very scenic family friendly beach area in Ahanta-West and can easily be reached via public or private transport from nearby Agona. It is managed by Danielle and her husband. A French couple living in Ghana. All rooms are ventilated and equipped with mosquito nets. The solar system provides electricity. Rooms and bungalows are spread throughout the beach in the hollow of the bay. You can request for a dormitory for GH₵50 or $8 USD or ask pay for camping equipment for a cheaper price. Think about a candle lit dinner for two or one, by the beach!

There is a restaurant on the beach that serves Exquisite African food. Amazing place for weekend getaway, during low tide the bay is very pleasant to swim in. Very friendly staff.

Busua Inn in Busua

Rated 4.0 over 5 on trip advisor. 

Busua inn has basic rooms with gulf views in a low-key beachfront property offering a terrace & a restaurant/bar. Located in the Western region, you can discover a luxurious area and also enjoy water sports on one of the most beautiful beaches of Ghana.

You can also get a bicycle ride from Busua to Dixcove to see Fort Cross. A room costs about GH₵200 or $35 USD per night.

Meet Me There African Home Lodge

This is a non profit organization. Offers Bohemian tents, dorms & private rooms in a casual lodge offering sea views & outdoor activities.

It’s a small but amazing place in the Dzita, Volta Region. About 3hrs drive from Tema Roundabout. You can find out more on their website        Rates per night range from GH₵180 to GH₵290 or $31 to 49 USD

Keta Lagoon Resort

This is a very beautiful resort on the Keta lagoon. It’s totally worth the experience and the town has almost everything you need.  Situated in Keta, features a terrace and a private beach area. Fort Prinzenstein is 2 km away. Free private parking is available on site.

A selection of activities are offered in the area, such as windsurfing, fishing and canoeing. Nightly rates start from GH₵200 or $35 USD

Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant.

Maranatha Beach Camp

Maranatha Beach Camp is located on the Volta River Estuary just over 2 hours from Accra. Accommodation is in simple but clean beach huts with the river and sea a few metres from the camp. It is the perfect place to relax and swim.

Evenings can be spent by the bar, with a bonfire, music and dancing at the weekends. Profits from the camp go directly to supporting the local community school.  Rates are Double room: 60-70 GHC per night ($10-$15 USD) Single bed in a dorm: 40 GHC per night ($7 USD) Pitch your own tent: 30 GHC per night ($5 USD)
