Most celebrity love stories get told as adult meet-cutes, a studio session, a mutual friend, a chance introduction at an event.
However, some started way back, perhaps in a neighbourhood, a classroom or a school compound, long before either person had a public career to speak of.
Falling for someone that young is one thing and staying together once your name is known everywhere in the country is another.

Fame changes what people expect from you, who has access to you, and sometimes what you expect from yourself, and plenty of young relationships don’t survive that shift.
Still, there are outliers, and we found a few right here in Ghana. Below are six Ghanaian celebrities who married the people they fell for when they were young.
Sarkodie and Tracy
Born Michael Owusu Addo, the popular Ghanaian rapper grew up with his wife, Tracy as neighbours in Tema.
Sarkodie has described Tracy as his first crush in life, and Tracy has confirmed they’ve known each other since childhood.
However, they didn’t get together until years later, after she returned from living in Germany, but the roots go back to their neighbourhood as kids. They married in 2018 after a ten-year relationship.
Van Vicker and Adjoa
Van Vicker met Adjoa at Kotokuraba station in Cape Coast and has said he knew her for ten years before they officially married.
Born in 1977, he would have been about 16 or 17 when they met, making this a genuine teenage sweethearts story.
Kaakie and Kweku “Spider”
Kaakie and her husband, known as Kweku “Spider,” were classmates at Achimota Senior High School. They married in a traditional ceremony on January 2, 2020, followed by a white wedding at East Legon Hills.
John Mahama and Lordina
President Mahama met Lordina when he returned to his old school, Ghana Secondary School in Tamale, as a National Service teacher, and she was his Form Four History student. He was a young adult; she was a teenager. They married in 1992 and have been together for over 30 years.
Adjetey Anang and Elom Anang
Adjetey Anang and his wife, Elom, met on the set of “Things We Do For Love,” where he played the character Pusher, one of the most talked-about roles in Ghanaian television history.
Elom has said in past interviews that they were friends before they became a couple.
According to Adjetey, they were both young at the time, still students pursuing the arts: he in Fine Arts at the University of Ghana, and Elom in theatre arts. They married and have been together for well over a decade, raising a son, Ryan.
