17 Popular Ghanaian personalities you did not know are Prempeh College Old Boys

The prestigious Prempeh College is our school of the week. Their motto a symbol of hope for a Ghanaian child, ” Suban ne Nimde3″. 

Prempeh College is a public secondary school for male students and is located in Kumasi, the capital city of the Ashanti Region.

The school was founded in the year 1949 by the Asanteman Traditional Council who corporated with the British Colonial Government and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

Prempeh College was the first school to win the National Science and Maths Quiz in 1994. According to the registrar of the University of Ghana, by 1975, Prempeh College had sent more students to medical school than any other school.

The Amanfoo Old Boys Association is considered as the strongest Old Boys Association in Ghana followed by Mfantsipim Old Boys Association(MOBA).

The school is notable for many great alumni due to effective academics and great interest in other extra-curricular activities.

Matthew Opoku Prempeh

He is the current Education minister of Ghana and he also holds the position of MP for the Manhyia Constituency. He is popularly called “Napo” by the youths

Yaw Appau

Mr Yaw Appau is a famous Ghanaian judge and he has served in many capacities as a member of the judiciary.

John Agyekum Kufuor

He may be regarded as the most “shiny” of Prempeh’s alumni. Mr Kufuor was the former president of Ghana from 2001-2009 and the chairperson of African Union

Kwesi Ahwoi

Mr Kwesi Ahwoi is the former Minister of Interior and he also is the first Ghanaian ambassador of Ghana to Comoros and has served in the same duties to countries like Mauritius, Lesotho and Seychelles.

Kwabena  Duffour

Mr Duffour was a former finance minister of the country and has served under the IMF and World Bank. In 1999 he has among the four best governor of the banks stated above. No wonder he is rumoured to be in the list of billionaires in Ghana.

Professor Badu Akosa 

He is the leading member of the CPP (Convention Peoples Party). He is a trained pathologist and has served as the director-general of Ghana Health Service. 

Kwadwo Mpiani 

He was the Chief of Staff during the administration of President Agyekum Kufuor. He was also the Minister for Presidential Affairs under the Presidency.

Maxwell Kofi Jumah

  He was the mayor of Kumasi during the administration of President Kufuor. He also served as the MP for Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region. He is now the CEO of GIHOC Distilleries.

OB Amoah 

He was the former deputy sports minister.  During President Kufuor’s administration, he served as the deputy minister of Education. He is currently the MP for Akuapem South Constituency in the Eastern Region.

Ato Ahwoi

He is a member of the council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) which is currently the largest opposition party. He was appointed as the chairman of National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) during the administration of the Late President John Evans Atta Mills.  

Fritz Baffour

He is a director for movies, a media consultant, television producer and the managing director of Tropical Visionstorm Limited. He is an Alumni of Prempeh College.

Kwaku Sintim Misa

He is popularly called KSM. He is a renowned Ghanaian actor, Director Satirist, Author and also the host of the talk show “The KSM Show”.

Yussif Chibsah

 He is a Ghanaian former football midfielder who played for Ljungskile sk in Sweden.

Godfred Akoto Boafo

He is a co-host on the CitiFm Breakfast Show and Ex editor of the @BusInsiderSSA and former Managing Editor of @PulseGhana.

Chairman Wontumi

Chairman Wontumi a.k.a Bernard Antwi Boasiako is a Ghanaian politician and currently the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.

Nana B

Henry Nana Boakye is the NPP National Youth Organizer and a former Deputy Executive Director of Ghana National Service Scheme.
