People on the internet are talking about this wedding that had only 4 guest

The internet is conflicted about this Nigerian couple who had a pretty simple wedding ceremony with just 4 guest in attendance.

Whiles half of the internet are applauding the move and calling it “smart” another half believe this impossible especially taking into consideration the nature of the African families.

Images of the ceremony that have since gone viral show the groom, bride and four other guests in attendance with a white priest officiating the ceremony.

According to an internet commentator, the marriage took place at the Our Lady of Loudres Catholic Church, Westville in Durban.

However, the wedding reception had a few more family and friends present.

Nigerian Netizen, Kissinger Ikeokwu who first shared the images wrote on Facebook

“See a typical Ala Bekee Wedding. But here people borrow money to feed his village, inlaw’s village, multitude etc. Here it is full Church Service, sometimes lasting up to 12-1-2pm. Then Reception is too bogus. After wedding they retire home and start borrowing.Who did this to us.

Africans enjoy having elaborate and lavish wedding ceremonies hence the reason behind the virality of the images. The wedding industry in Ghana and Nigeria alone is raking in the millions as couples marry on a daily basis.

An average Ghanaian wedding could cost between 30k to a 100K cedis or its dollar equivalent. Wedding photographers and their team may charge 1k USD and above to deliver for high-quality images and videos which could trend on the internet.

Experts believe that these celebrations could have an adverse effect on couple’s financial standing since they spend a fortune on both customary and Christian weddings.

Congratulations to the couple for doing what makes them happy despite all the attacks and applauds on the internet. Wishing them a happy married life.
