Award-winning make up artist, Bimpe Onakoya tells the story of her fight with the COVID 19 virus

Award-winning Nigerian international makeup artist and artistic director of Maybelline New York, Bimpe Onakoya has detailed her experience with COVID-19.

The mother of triplets who is well-known for her flawless work with top designers including DKNY, Lacoste, J Mendel, Mara Hoffman and Suno contracted the deadly virus in December 2020 whiles in Kenya.

She has also worked with high profile Models like Alek Wek, Jourdan Dunn , Oluchi, Agbani Darego.

In a post on Instagram, Bimpe revealed that she tested positive for COVID-19 and was hospitalised from the 23rd of December.

She also recorded a temperature of 38 to 39.8 degrees. 

She explained that it became difficult for her to breathe on her own by New Years Eve. Also, She had developed pneumonia so she had to be supported with oxygen to be able to breathe. 

She wrote:

“I survived the Covid!! Since the 23rd of December when I tested positive it didn’t relelent, my temperature was constantly btw 38 to 39.8 till New year eve when I could no longer breathe without choking and coughing, I had already developed pneumonia at that time, to cut a long story short, I got discharged yesterday, Covid is real, and it also comes with a lot of complications, please guard your life with all your might, this disease is unforgiving!!! Don’t ever get tired of masking up, washing and sanitising your hands, it took the intervention of Jesus for me to survive this!! I’m still in Kenya.”

Doctors discharged Bimpe from an unnamed hospital in Kenya yesterday.

Amidst thanking God that she had miraculously recovered, she admonished all her followers to mask up, sanitize and stay protected since the virus is real and not a hoax.
