The inspiring story of Elizabeth Owusua who works as a lawyer by day and nurse in the night

Not many people get to live their childhood dreams to the fullest or at all but this is not the case for Ghanaian lawyer and nurse, Elizabeth Owusua.

Owusua’s story is not only real but inspiring and a demonstration that you can do anything you set your mind to even though it might sound cliche.

At the moment she’s achieved two out of her 3 career choices as a nurse, and a lawyer leaving her fashion designer dream on the side for the meantime. Like most children of her age, she was just dreaming big and did not know how difficult and almost impossible it was to do both.

“As a child, I always wanted to be a nurse, lawyer, and a fashion designer all at the same time with no idea how they were going to happen because of my background,” she explained

Telling her beautiful story she revealed that she “attended senior high school at Mfantsiman girls” in the Central Region which helped shaped her entire being.

Continuing her story she said: “From there I went to the Nursing and Midwifery Training College at Korle bu where I graduated with a Diploma in Nursing in 2008 and started working as a nurse in 2010 after national service.”

Later, she did a top-up at the Central University College for a Bsc Degree in Nursing alongside work and graduated successfully in 2013.

Hungry for more success, she proceeded to Law School during the next academic year to pursue a degree in law.

“In 2014 I applied to Gimpa law faculty for an LLB and I got admitted which I did along with work mostly night shifts and gained admission to the Law school in 2017,” she added

Although very arduous and hectic, she completed the course and finally “was called to the Ghana Bar in October 2019”.

Lizzy’s story is the talk of Ghanaian social media and the world as most people are moved by the sheer audacity and perseverance of her story.

Congratulations to her. She’s a role model worthy of emulation
